I've been reading about IOT devices sending telemetry to spaces. Im wondering what it takes to connect a micro-controller to a Cisco access point and send telemetry data over BLE. We have been starting some IOT pilots using BLE connections to edge devices that talk to access point over wi-fi. It seems like its should be possible to just use access points as my edge gateway. Just looking for any documentation or examples.

It is not that easy nor that affordable.
DNAC is required to link the WLC to DNA Spaces (aka Cisco Spaces).

You can certainly use Cisco APs as BLE gateway for enabling IoT use-case. It's enabled via Cisco Spaces IoT services solution. This has been available for a while and in production network at scale. For Meraki wireless, enabling Spaces is easy 3 step process via MR Dashboard. For Catalyst wireless, I am sharing some documentation to get up and started.
