How to erase Cisco StackWise Virtual with Catalyst 9500

HI team,

Can you help me with this issue? I have two sw 9500 24-port in stackwise.
How can I reset them to factory settings by erasing the stackwise without losing the iOS of each one?
Will they go to different, separate locations, without being in stackwise.

Thanks a lot.
Best regards.
Ciro G. Mele.

No! The command 'factory-reset ALL' deletes everything including the IOS itself.

As already explained the command 'factory-reset config' is only available AFTER you disabled stackwise virtual.

Simply follow the step-by-step guide of my previous post and it does not matter whether or not you disconnect the cables as the first step is to delete the SVL and DAD links.

Hi, @Jens Albrecht

Thanks a lot for your help.

So with this command "factory-reset all". you keep the iOS on the cat9500 and only delete the loaded configuration

"factory-reset all" will format EVERYTHING, including the config, firmware binary file(s) and package files.  EVERYTHING.

Hi,

Sorry, I meant to write the command factory-reset config...so that it keeps the ios and does not delete it.

Thanks.

Every IOS-XE switch has two config files:  nvram_config & nvram_config_bkup.  The command "factory-reset config" will reset the two files to "zero" but will never delete them (because they get re-created every time).  The command "factory-reset config" will delete the VLAN database file(s).

Hi @Leo Laohoo ,
