Do the mail appliances use Rsh or SSH for clustering? I have always believed it was SSH however our security consultants claim they were able to detect Rsh service running on one of the clustered appliances and I'm wondering if it is a false positive.

Hello Rob,

I'm pretty sure it's SSH. In each case... if you telnet to the cluster port (TCP2222 by default) you see an OpenSSH greating.
Besides that the official advice of Ironort used to be "use the standard SSH port for clustering" (i'm wonderin if anyone is following that advice... but that's an otherquestion), so at least the clustinging works via SSH.
