We are having Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) having AMP engine which will scan the emails, however, there is no option in AMP for endpoints to scan for emails. Once any file attachment is downloaded from email to the machine only then AMP does the scan for the same.
Regarding ESA, there were a small number of cases where several malicious email attachments were passing through the ESA without being detected/blocked properly, while from the other hand, Cisco AMP4E was capable to identify and block the malicious/suspicious attachments when users were trying to open.
