Where do I change the smtp server information in a portal which is already installed and running?

Locate the file

C:\jboss-as-7.1.1.Final\standalone\deployments\RequestCenter.war\WEB-INF\classes\config\newscale.properties

Change the value for

ObjectCache.email.host

It is also critical to set the actual return email address. In 3.1 this is done in the System Setup portal page in the System Settings tab. There is a task named Set System Email Account.
