Cant use a MD5 hashed password for a local user on cisco 3850 ? What?

Hi All,

I have SSH setup on a 3850.

If i create a user like so:

username test priv 15 password test

It will let me login as that user but they will have a password 7 "reversable" password. I dont want this.

If i use

username test priv 15 secret test

It created a MD5 hashed password.

Yet I can NEVER login as this user.

What is going on ? any ideas?

Usernames with type "5" passwords are perfectly fine for SSH-logins and it should work.

Just a guess: When configuring the secret, you entered a space and ? after the password to see if there are other options? Then it could be that you have an additional space at the end of your password. Try to login with "test " and see if that works.

No , no spaces. Nothing.

the admin user works fine, No other user ever works if I use "secret" . if I use "password" it works. but those passwords can be reversed.

Do the "secret" users work with telnet? And with a strange behavior like this I would also consider this to be a bug. Any IOS-upgrade available?
