Cisco ACS 1113 v4.0.1.44 Options for replication have 1120 and 2nd 1113

Hi There,

We currently have 1 live ACS SE 1113 running version 4.0.1.44 which we are unable to take out of service and we want to install a 2nd one for resiliency and replication ( and to have the resilient pair running version 4.2.0.124).

We have had the following made available to us for this purpose an ACS SE 1113  and an CSACS 1120 both running version 4.2.0.124.

Could you please advise if the following downgrade/upgrade process is valid (I see that the CSACS1120 does not suppot v4.0 or 4.1).

1. Downgrade the 2nd ACS SE 1113 to version 4.0.1.44

2. Set-up replication between the 1113's so we now have our live data on both boxes.

3. Take Primary ACS out of service and confirm Secondary now handling all requests.

3. Upgrade our Primary ACS to version 4.1 then to version 4.2.0.124

4. Bring Primary ACS back into service and confirm operating then take secondary ACS out of service for upgrade to version 4.1 then 4.2.0.124

5. Confirm replication now working at version 4.2.0124.

Are there any other possible methods to migrate our existing live data from our existing 1113 to either of the other devices (1113 and 1120) currently running 4.2.0.124 without going through the above downgrade/upgrade process.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Jim.

Hi Jim,

I understand you have 3 Appliances-- 2 ACS 1113 and 1 ACS 1120.

ACS1 --- 1113 running 4.0.1.44 -- In production.

ACS2 --- 1113 running 4.2.0.124 -- In Lab.

ACS3 --- 1120 running 4.2.0.124 -- In lab.

You wish to setup replication in the production environment and transfer the backup of ACS1 to 4.2.0.124.

The path mentioned in the post is correct.

You can try doing the following:

take the backup of the ACS1. Install ACS for windows 4.0.1.44 in the lab. restore the backup of the ACS1. Upgrade the ACS windows to 4.1.1.24 then to 4.2.0.124 keeping the database intact.

Restore the database on ACS2 and ACS3. configure the replication for ACS2 and ACS3.

Take a downtime and replace ACS1 with the replication pair of ACS2 and ACS3.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Anisha

Hi Jim,

Unfortunately ACS 4.0 is out of life and support.

Please open a TAC case and they will publish the files for you!

Hope this helps.

Thanks Anisha,

That clears things up a bit for me. We will eventually have both the 1113's running as ACS1 and ACS2 on 4.2.0.124

Is their a recovery CD image/files  for the 1113 SE version 4.0.1.44 available for download - we only have the 4.2 recovery CD
