Will the new version of Acs 5.3 support a smaller drive space under vmware? If so when will 5.3 be available?

Hi ,

I really dont think there is any plans in changing the drive space for ACS vmware 5.3. but will let  you know if hear  any change.

Thanks

Waris Hussain

As per the release notes:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.3/release/notes/acs_53_rn.html#wp216411

ACS 5.3 does not support VMware installations with less than 500 GB hard disk. Is thin-provisoning a valid workaround for this?

Regards,

Eoin.

I had heard (from our Cisco SE I beleive) that 5.3 would introduce support for smaller disk sizes - but we've upgraded to 5.3 and I can't see any mention of that anywhere.

We're running thin-provisioning - and aren't seeing any problems (but we're only currently using ACS for device admin auth - so fairly low numbers of authentications etc) - but the release notes do say somewhere that only fully provisioned disks are supported. Although I think it says you can thin-provision - but they then won't provide support for any performance-related issues - only configuration type stuff. I've managed to log a few TAC tickets and it hasn't been an issue so far - so we're staying thin-provisioned - but our VMWare chap tells me it's quite easy to turn thin into a thick-provisioned VM - and back again if need-be.
