CiscoSecure locking up - like a DOS attack

I have CS 2.3(6) running on a Solaris platform. The box itself has only CiscoSecure running on it and it in no way overloaded.

The problem I am having is it will stop authenticating users, while the box isn't even at 2% utilization. I found that a 3rd party software product was causing what appeared to be a Denial of Service attack, and when it was halted the problem went away. Then it happened again without the 3rd party software running. Based on the log, it looked like CiscoWorks was pounding it.

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Release Notes for CiscoSecure Access Control Server for UNIX, 2.3(6) would be a good place to start investigating. Bug CSCdv26308, 'CiscoSecure Unix stops authentication when DNS lookup hangs' might be a cause of the problem you are facing and is worth looking into.
