Upgrading ISE 2.1 to 2.2

Reading the Cisco ISE Upgrade Guide, Release 2.2 in the chapter Upgrade a Cisco ISE Deployment from the GUI,  step 6  upgrade sequence is to me confusing and concerning, if I'm reading correctly this states using the default upgrade  sequence the Secondary PAN will become the Primary PAN which I do not want to happen.  How do I upgrade maintaining the current persona in this process?

Only while upgrading, the secondary PAN will become the new primary PAN of your new migrated deployment. After the deployment is completely migrated, you can change roles again as needed.
