Hi @Dr.Gerry

We could not read to the end of your question. Can you try to edit this one or post a new question?

The organisation I work for has recently moved into a completely new building with completely new network infrastructure. Where we used to have wired gigabit networking, we now have wireless-only. Over the years I have used VMWare workstation and locally installed VMs to test various things, but now that our network uses ISE, VMs running on my laptop can no longer connect to the corporate network. I have tried using Bridged networking in VMWare (bridged to my Wi-Fi adapter), but that does not allow my VMs to connect to the network.
I am not the 'network guy', but the guy who IS the 'network guy' tells me that it is impossible for me to now run VMs that connect to our corporate network if that VM is running on a machine that is Wi-Fi connected. Is this correct? Surely, I am not the only person in the world who has needed to do this. The only other option is for me to carry around a second laptop.....which is less than satisfactory.....and lacks the convenience of being able to snapshot-and-rollback, or to use a wired connection at my desk.......but that won't work either - our new building is for 'activity-based-working', a silly bit of new-age mumbo-jumbo which means that just because I sit at one desk one day it doesn't mean it will be available for me to use the next day.
Is there any way to configure ISE to allow me to use virtual machines on my Wifi connected laptop?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Damien - I don't know how you managed to view that posting but I only saw two lines of hyperlink that lead nowhere.

As for the answer: I have bridged my laptop VMs to the wireless using VMWare Workstation. No problems there.

And ISE doesn't really have anything to do with this.

@Dr.Gerry - are you proposing to run VMs over the wifi that others need to access? I have not tried that - but in that instance it would be better to put your hypervisor on a wired network. What exactly is your use case?

Thanks for your response. My use case is to create VMs that I can use to test System Centre OSD, and also application deployment. A couple of other users have the same issue, and the network team is telling us that ISE is not letting us connect. They have also said that there is no actual indication in the ISE console that our laptops are being blocked.....so I think they don't really know what is going on. Their solution is for me to carry round a second laptop for testing......which is hardly ideal. I can't 'snapshot and rollback' a laptop like I can with a VM, so it makes testing rather cumbersome.

I was hoping that maybe there is something in ISE that can be tweaked.....but from the sounds of your reply it probably isn't ISE. Not sure where I turn now....

I agreed with Arne.

I would suggest you to get some USB wireless adapters and use them with the VMs.

Thanks everyone for your responses. We got the guy who built the network to check it out for us. As you have all mentioned, it's not ISE that is the culprit.  We don't have any USB network adapters, and I'm fairly certain the boss won't be buying any. Desks can't be cabled, so it looks like my only option is carrying round a different physical device......

USB wireless adapters are fairly inexpensive so should be able to justify the cost. If I were you and if not testing with 802.1X/MAB auth, I would use the option in VMware for Internet Sharing.

Another option is to use dual-boot. Though not as convenient, it's closer to the 2nd laptop.
