LMS 4.2.3 device and system update failing

I have upgraded to prime LMS 4.2.2 (from 4.0.1) and can not perform system or device upgrade. Using wireshark I can see why. it looks like LMS is trying to go to this old web link http://cco.cisco.com/cgi-bin/login to get software. I believe this was fixed years ago in bug CSCto46927.

Can I reapply bug fix CSCto46927 on 4.2.3 or is there another fix?

Thanks.

Attila,

Did you ever figure this out?  I have the same problem.

I have other issues since upgrading from 4.2.2 to 4.3 too, like user tracking failing for a number of devices.  I thought maybe a device package update might help but it does not seem to be updating.

Hi, I've opened a tech case to solve. There will be a patch, the workaround was the following:

We have Filed the bug :CSCue69689 “LMS 4.2.3 Installation not installed latest device packages for Inventory”

As a workaround, please do the below steps.
1.       Stop Daemon Manager .
2.       Change PATCHVER value to 3 from 2 in /opt/CSCOpx/setup/lms.info file.
3.       Start DM.
4.       Download & Install all available packages.
5.       Change PATCHVER value to 3 from 2 in /opt/CSCOpx/setup/lms.info file.
6.       Restart Daemon Manager.

To stop and start the  DM use the below command :

/etc/init.d/dmgtd stop

/etc/init.d/dmgtd start'

Thanks Atila, but that workaround didn't do a thing for me.  i still get the error.  PSUCLI returns the following:

The Cisco.com device/software updates seems to be broken again.  I tried checking for device updates when running versions 4.2.3 (with patch installed) and 4.2.4 and got the following error message:

"ERROR: Unable to connect to Cisco.com. Please check  /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/psu.log file for details. Download operation cannot  proceed."

Anybody else have the same issue?

I just checked my LMS 4.2.4 (on soft appliance)and it appears to be working fine.

I downloaded, installed and verified success.

I too have LMS 4.2.4, which seems to be work fine. Just downloaded mdf 1.80 successfully.

Check whats on psu.log. if required enable debug and check on psu.log.

Well until I saw the post notification come through I didn't even know there was a 4.2.4.  Went to try and download it and got "Additional entitlements required".  Doh!  They screwed up the contract association AGAIN!!!!  I am tired of playing this game.

jedavis,

You might get that on a direct cisco.com download attempt if your contract association is messed up. You should still be able to pull it down from LMS via the software update menu.

Well Marvin, that is what I tried first and received the "No updates available in Cisco.com for selected products.". In fact if I try and do a device update there are no products listed to check. So if it is supposed to work that way then my LMS install is hosed.  Guess I should open a TAC cas.... DOH!

jedavis,

What release are you running now? Are you using the "Software Update" menu (below) to check for the LMS 4.2.4?

Update - I just confirmed on a non-patched machine that the updates appear correctly. This one is on a physical server running on Windows Server 2008 R2:

I am running 4.2.3 and yes, that's the menu I am using.  And here is my device update menu.  Notice... no products listed.

Yes, that is an odd one.

For Device Updates in that screenshot you should at least have the Product Name column populated with the compoenent in which to check for updates.

Under the Software Update menu on the left of that screenshot, it should bring up a screen allowing you to choose the LMS application itself for update check.\

Sounds like TAC time.

Well, yeah, but as far as Cisco is concerned I don't have a support contract.  However, the channel partner that sold me the contract has a case open with Cisco to get my ID associated with it.
