New LMS install and I'm trying to add devices, or at least a seed device. Any native IOS 6500 I add fails on the SNMPv2c RW string although it succeeds on the RO. CatOS 6500 works fine. I can add the CatOS switch to RME too.
I've tried deleting and re-entering the snmp strings, deleting and re-entering the strings in DCA, deleting and re-adding the devices. I can snmpwalk the RW string from another computer as well.
All latest patches on LMS.
Please help!

The key being that you can walk the RW string from ANOTHER COMPUTER. What about from the LMS server using the SNMP Walk tool in Device Center? I'm betting that if you look at the running config on these IOS switches, you will see an access-list applied to the RW community string, and your LMS server is not allowed by that ACL.

Nope, no ACL's applied. All I have is:
snmp-server community blah RO
snmp-server community blech RW

So can you SNMP Walk using the RW community string from the LMS server? And how have you determined the RW community string is invalid on the LMS server?

Pretty sure we've determined it's a problem with the server itself. Using GetIF reponses from either the RO or the RW string are intermittent. I also can't get a working SSH connection from Putty on the same server. We're rebuilding it.

I recently installed a new switch and was getting intermittent responses via SNMP.
Turned out that the port that the switch was trunked to (older switch) was bad. Changed ports, all is Good!
If this switch has been in production for awhile I doubt this is the case, but you never know. Sharing insights to my experiences. :-)
