Manually uninstalling VPN Client

I ran into trouble with an installation -- and uninstall left fragments lying around. A re-install didn't work, presumably because of the stuff. I'm now doing the manual uninstall according to the web-page describing this. But there are files in the languages subfolder ending with a .QM extension that I can't delete, even in safe mode (this is on a Windows XP 32bit, SP3). What is locking these 10 files, since deleting these is the only item I couldn't complete on the manual uninstall.

Thanks!

Manually removing the VPN Client

Open Regedit (Start -> Ausführen -> Regedit)

Remove the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems\VPN Client

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Deterministic Networks

Sometimes the system might not allow you to delete this key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{5624c000-b109-9db4-00e0290fcac5}

Delete the following directory:

C:\Progam Files (oder Programme)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client

C:\Program Files (oder Programme)\Common Files\Deterministic Networks

Delete all the old DNE files: (mit Suche im Explorer!!!)

a) dne2000.sys from %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers

b) dne2000m.inf and dne2000m.pnf from %SystemRoot%\inf

c) The oem enumeration of the dne2000.inf and .pnf files.

The oem enumeration .inf file is a file called oem (some numeric vallue) .inf. for example oem2.inf and oem2.pnf.

Be careful to only remove oem files from DNE.

d) dneinobj.dll from %SystemRoot%\system32. You may need to reboot before this file can be removed.

Delete the following file:

a) cvpndrv.sys from %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers

Reboot the machine and install the client.

Thanks for that. My question was regarding the .QM files that prevented me from deleting the 'Languages' subfolder in the 'C:\program files\cisco systems\vpn client' folder. Turns out that the permissions on those files prevented everybody (incl Administrator) from deleting the files. Changing the permissions has allowed me to complete the manual uninstall. I will now attempt (drumroll please) to re-install the client.
