ASA 5505 & 3725 Router

Hello all, I'm trying to add a 3725 router to my home network to work on some labs. I could use a little guidance on how to proceed in doing so.

My topology is currently: ISP --> ASA5505 (base license, 2 vlans only) --> 3725 Router.

The ASA 5505 is providing layer 2 connectivity to my client devices and is my dhcp server. I am planning to use the 3725 router primarily for VOIP. I'll need the phones to receive DHCP (which I can pretty much do with the ASA) but also receive and their configuration from the 3725.

With my current ASA license, is there any potential for making this work? Any advice would be wonderful.

Hello Adam,

Is well known and recommended to use a separate vlan for the voice traffic..

With the current license you have you cannot make that as you are already assigning 2 vlans (outside and inside) NO space for Voice vlan.

You could use the same vlan for data and voice and sure it will work but is not the best desing.

I would recommend you to get the plus license man. I mean you have an ASA  box... You can do so many thing with this box

Regards,

Julio
