asa 5505 - cannot config terminal - invalid input detected at marker

so I am connected to console on an  asa 5505. I am logged in as enabler aka ****asa# , and when I enter the command config terminal, or config t or con ter, or whatever I get the invalid input error: why?

nothing I have read or found so far has answered this.

the device is in active service, so I really do not want to mess around too much.

I tried using ASDM but I get the message "you are authorized to access only Home and Monitor views."

also it would be really great if I could get the log to stop displaying on the console as well.

I have attached error message and sho version.

hi,

you might have AAA applied.

can you ask the AAA/ACS admin to escalate your privilege?

if that's not possible, you'll need to do a password recovery and bypass the startup config/remove AAA lines.

lemme look at that and i will come back if thats not it.

if it is AAA, i will have to recover password as we have no admin.

(i believe he went mad, muttering something about declining windows 10...) :)
