ASA 5505 Failover Licensing and Part Numbers

Hello all!

Currently, we have a single Cisco ASA 5505 device protecting our network. It has an Unlimited User Base (non-Security Plus) license.

We would like to add an additional ASA 5505 device for redundancy, in an Active/Standby failover configuration with the current unit. I know this will require an upgrade of the current unit to a Security Plus license, as well as buying a second unit with the appropriate licensing to support the failover configuration. However, Cisco documentation is rather confusing on the exact part numbers that would be needed to accomplish this.

Can anyone tell me the proper part number to do the needed license upgrade on the existing unit and the proper part number for a compatible second unit with the proper license?

The license you need to activate is the security  plus,

The most common part ID for this license

L-ASA5505-SEC-PL=

However , for this type of scenarios is better go to an authorized Cisco reseller and get the right licensing bundle fro your company.
