Asa 5505 question

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but i do not seem

to be able to fix the problem that i am having with my 5505.

i did a reset on my asa by stopping the boot process because i could not remember what my enable password was, i had no problems with the reset the asa came backup as it should and i started configuring the device again.

My problem is when the device is powered off and back on i lose all configuration that were made, i save the changes with "write me" before the restart and they are still being over wrote.

Please tell me what i missing or how to correct this.

Thank you

Shane

Hi,

I believe that your problem is the configuration-register value.

Please check this:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa71/configuration/guide/trouble.html#wp1049302

When you issue a show version command what is your Configuration Register value?

When you did the password recovery did you follow all the steps listed below? Did that include resetting the config register to 0x1?

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa80/configuration/guide/trouble.html#wp1049302

See below a guide to the various config register values

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa81/command/ref/c4.html#wp2125302

yes i did the config register to 0x1 to reset the unit. attached is a copy of the show ver of the asa.

Once again not to sound dumb but what does the setting need to be? reading through the links, im still lost.

Thank you

Shane

show ver shows this:

Configuration register is 0x41

Can you try setting it to:  0x1

Federico.
