In the Guide of ASA 9.6

It is mentioned concerning the Failover license:

Failover units do not require the same license on each unit. If you have licenses on both units, they combine into a single running failover cluster license. There are some exceptions to this rule. See the following table for precise licensing requirements for failover.

In the exceptions: 'same encryption license'

Does that mean that Security Plus license if available on one of the Units , it will be enough to cluster/HA two firewalls ? (without the need of the same on the other unit)

Anyone tested this?

A 5512-X with Base license can't be part of a HA-system. SecurityPlus is needed on both to build HA. After that, other licenses can be combined in the system.
