Hi,

As per one of the documents in Cisco, it is recommended that to share the traffic/links in both slots of ASA.

Is there any recommendation or standard for traffic volume what each Bus in ASA 5550 can handle.

When looking at the traffic stats in our ASA, we understand the traffic is fully utilized the slot0 bus.

  Packets-per-second profile:

    Slot 0:     113562 100%|

    Slot 1:        414   0%|

We actually having a problem in one of the interfaces, we are seeing overruns contineously increasing.

Please advice what is traffic volume ASA 5550 - each bus or slot can handle.

& Any comparison with 5580 would be more helpful.

Thanks,
Guru

There are no nomila values published for bus 0 or bus 1.

Though I would like to direct you maximum throughput on the ASAs to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/prod_models_comparison.html/ These say what the 5550 and 5580 can do maximum.

Now as for maximizing the bus0 throughput please do as explained here http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa72/getting_started/asa5550/quick/guide/thru_n.html

You can clear traffic, wait for a while and then do "sh traffic" on the interfaces. That should show you an indication if the 5550 is oversubscribed. Also the cpu will indicate if it is oiversubscribed.

I hope it helps.
