Hello,
We have an ASA 5585-X with SSP40 IPS module. However, the IPS module was in unresponsive state. I tried to re-image the IPS module with the image file "IPS-SSP_40-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.1-1-E4.img", by performing the following:
1. Setup a tftp server in my laptop.
2. Set the ip of the laptop to 192.168.1.6/29
3. Console to the asa.
4. Connect the management interface 0/0 and 1/0 to a switch. The laptop is also connected to the same switch.
5. Configure the recover parameters by running "hw-module module 1 recover configure" and run "hw-module module 1 recover boot"
6. Running the "show module 1 recover" command gives the following output:
Module 1 recover parameters...
Boot Recovery Image: Yes
Image URL: [tftp]://192.168.1.6/IPS-SSP_40-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.1-1-E4.img
Port IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Gateway IP Address: 192.168.1.1
VLAN ID: 0
The image file is copied to the ASA ip address of 192.168.1.2 (over tftp) as shown by the progress bar in the tftp server.
However, the IPS module is stuck in "Recover" state. (Its been over 2 hours now).
Any help/suggestion will be appreciated.
Sincerely

I'm going to guess the IPS module is faulty. I would raise a case with TAC.
