I have two ASA firewall connected to ISP using PPPOE interface and I want to confiigure A/S faillover but I get message saying : you can't configure faillover with named interface configured as PPPOE or DHCP , so any work around for this ? why they mentioned named interface ? as what I know interface should be named only , I am running 9.1 version what about newer versions ? is that possible?

Hi,
This is not supported on ASA.
PPPoE is not supported when failover is configured on the ASA, or in multiple context or transparent mode. PPPoE is only supported in single, routed mode, without failover.
Please refer the below link
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa91/configuration/vpn/asa_91_vpn_config/vpn_pppoe.html
Even in the version 9.4 it is the same.
Thanks,

As already mentioned, it's not supported on the ASA. All you can do is to reconfigure your DSL-"Modem" (or whatever device you are using) to routed mode. Then you have a private transfer-link between the router and yous A/S-ASAs. Not a really good solution, but at least it works.
Or even better, if you are using A/S, then you probably have a higher need for Availability. You should consider changing to an ISP that provides you an Internet-Link with the public IPs via an Ethernet-link.
