ASA failover

Visitor

We are in the process of bringing up a 2nd Internet connection in another location. I have 2 ASA 5520s, 8.4.6 (failover) that we use for VPN users and L2L connections. I would like to separate them and take one to the new location. What is the best way to accomplish this?

There is no real difficulty to this.

  1. Just remove the secondary ASA from the network (If the current secondary is not the one you plan to move then failover so that the active is the one you intend to keep in your network.)
  2. remove failover configuration from the active ASA that remained in the network,
  3. then clear the configuration on the ASA you plan on moving
