ASA/ISR load sharing dual ISP

Hello support community,

I'm writing hoping that you can shine some light into a design question that I have regarding a small office WAN connectivity, I would like to load balance between 2 different ISP (Cable and DSL) both with static IPs using ISR 1841 and a ASA 5505 with security plus license. This site is not hosting any service so I'm not concern with inbound traffic as I am with the outbound. My concerns are.

1. I would like to perform NAT and security function at the ASA1, how should my connectivity be between ASA1 and ISR1?

2. What is the recommended approach for a dual ISP load sharing scenario in a case like this?

Hello Delmiro,

1) I would use the ASA as the Firewall but the IOS Router as the NAT device so it can perform both the NAT and the PBR Required.

2) Having a Cisco IOS router best scenario is do whatever fits you the best Send HTTP and HTTPS traffic over one link and then VoIP and Video over another link,etc,etc (This is just an example of course) but with an IOS router you have a lot of options to play with)
