ASA Memory

Hello Folks

i am having ASA 5520 with 512 DRAM which use for l2l vpn purpose only , is it safe to upgrade from 8.0.4 to 8.2.4 or 8.2.5

do i required memory upgrade as i seen some doc saying memory issue can occurred after the upgrade but i didn't find proper document for this

any help appreciated

As per the doc, ASA 5520 requires 2 Gb  for code 8.3 and higher so you can upgrade directly to either 8.2.4 or 8.2.5 but it is suggested that you do upgrade the memory as well to avoid any issues later.

i agree with you , but in the current situation i cannot upgrade memory for time being and still i want to upgrade the asa box to 8.2.4 or 8.2.5 only to fix some bug , is it safe to do it or do you see any risk here to proceed

As long as you make sure the memory remains significantly nominal, you should be fine with the upgrade. The essence is it will still work with current memory but may have issues moving further.
