Please provide suggestion on the ASA code upgrade to 9.1(3) from ASA 9.1(1). Is the code version 9.1(3) stable one or please suggest the recommended stable version.

I am having ASA 5525 with 8192 MB of flash memory.

You could upgrade to 9.1(3) easily by loading the image to flash, setting it as the boot-image and reload the ASA. But 9.1(3) is also quite old and is missing many bug- and security-fixes. If you want to stay on the main version 9.1, I would upgrade directly to 9.1(7)11 which is the newest version in that release-train.

But depending on your used features, I would plan to upgrade to something newer like 9.4(3)12.

Thanks !!!

I am not expert with the ASA upgrades.

Could you please help me with the recommended ASA 9.1(1) to 9.1(3) upgrade steps in sequence.

Thanks

In ASDM, go to Tools -> Update from local computer. Choose "ASA" from the list and upload the file from your local computer. When asked if you want to set this image to boot answer "yes". After that reload you ASA.

More on Upgrades (and operation of an ASA in general) can be found in the Config-Guide.

Hi, I did look at the ASDM. Tools>Upgrade from local Computer option is seen as grayed out. Please suggest.

I would assume that there is some form of authorization done on this device and you are not allowed to upgrade. Can you configure the ASA from ASDM?

And in the lower right corner, You see your login-name and a number. If the number is lower than "15", ask the AAA-admin to raise your privileges.
