Hello everyone,
We have fiber with 100mbps internet connection. Our ISP router is direct connected to our firewall(asa5510).
Now i want put switch between ISP router and our firewall to create dmz zone so i can use more public ip's. The problem is when i put the switch between isp router and our firewall then speed goes unde 3mbps. If i take the switch off and connect the router and firewall direct then the speed average around 90mbps. Router and Firewall both interface set for duplex full and speed 100.I teste with mulitple switch with same results.
How can i fix this?

Hello Gurpreet,
You said that speed and duples is same on router & ASA, can you please ensure it is same on interface pair connecting Router & SW and SW & ASA.
RTR(eth1)---(eth2)SW(eth3)---(eth4)ASA
I mean, eth1 & eth2 should be same & eth3 & eth4 should be same.
Hope this helps. Please reply back if you need more info.
Regards,
Chirag

thanks Chirag, i tested that it didn't work. The switch is plug and play switch so there is nothing i can configure. I tested with different switches. Without switchi will get average speed about 90mbps but with switch it's now giving me avarage of 10mbps. Pls advise.

the switch seems to be the issue. Probably it doesn't handle 100 Full Duplex settings and only half duplex. That could be causing the issue. If there is a way to change those settings you should give it a try.

thanks Paul, that make sense. I will try find a switch that is 100 full duplex and will let you know.
I can't change any settings on current switch becuase it's not a managed switch.

Hello Gurpreet,
Gr8. In that case replace the switch with a managble one and ensure speed & duplex to be same with neighbouring devices.
