ASA5515X Crashes when transfering new ASA Image

Hi All.

I am trying to copy a new image to an ASA5515-x, and every time I have initiated the transfer the ASA Crashes, and reboots. I have tried copying via ASDM, from cisco HP, Locally, and CLI from local machine.

Hardware error or? What do you think.

There is no problem copying a new ASDM image, or copying crashfiles from the box.

Crashdump is Attached as txt file.

Please Advice :-)

Kind Regards

Rasmus Alenkær-Jørgensen

Hi Dinesh.

Thank you for the link.

I can see that this bug is related to problems using ftp, and i tried using ASDM as Well which as far as i know uses HTTPS. I just tried to copy an image from USB(disk1:) to disk0: and it does the same thing so the bug is worse than described.

I managed to boot the ASA from disk1:(usb flashdrive) and then, when on the new image copying the image to disk0: booting it again with a new bootstring.

/Rasmus

Hi Rasmus,

The bug title states "ASA crash when copying new image to flash via ASDM" so it is expected that we will see this issue via ASDM as well.

As stated in bug: This is similar issue and but here copying is happening over https.

But I think it could have been clearly expressed. Nevertheless, you might want to upgrade to 9.1.1.1 as per the defect and that shall address the issue.

Hope this helps !

Dinesh Moudgil
