Hi, I have an ASA5520 that replaced an ASA5505 that stopped working.  How is the outside interface configured on the 5520 to receive dynamic IP from the ISP?  The following was configured on the 5505 to receive a dynamic outside IP. The 5520 doesn't recognize in line 3, pppoe .

interface Vlan2
 nameif outside
 security-level 0
 pppoe client vpdn group chn
 ip address pppoe setroute

What software version are you using on the 5520?
Everytime I have a CLI command I look for the Cisco ASA command reference, but as you already guessed we need exact SW version ;)

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 7.0(6)
Device Manager Version 5.0(6)

Compiled on Tue 22-Aug-06 13:22 by builders
System image file is "disk0:/asa706-k8.bin"
Config file at boot was "startup-config"

ciscoasa up 2 mins 4 secs

Hardware: ASA5520, 512 MB RAM, CPU Pentium 4 Celeron 2000 MHz
Internal ATA Compact Flash, 256MB
BIOS Flash M50FW080 @ 0xffe00000, 1024KB

Does anyone know how to assign a dynamic IP address on an outside interface of a ASA5520?

I think: ip address dhcp would make it, but you're also need PPPoE right?

Again: config guide for the SW version you're using will tell US all.

The ASA 5520 doen't accept the PPOE command that a ASA5505 does.
