I'm trying to upgrade my Cisco PIX 515E to the most recent software package "asdm-622f.bin"
Can I reload the PIX and it boot from the "asdm-622f.bin"?
Thanks

Hello,
The firewall has 2 images it maintains in flash: 1) the application image, and 2) the ASDM image. The application image is the one that the firewall boots from and that contains all of the operating code. The ASDM image is simply the GUI management tool for the PIX firewall. In other words, you can't boot to an ASDM image, only a PIX image.
Also, ASDM image upgrades don't require a reboot. However, the application image upgrades do require a reboot.
The last release for PIX 515E is version 8.0(4).
Hope that helps.
