Hi folks,
Is the Cisco 1811 router built-in firewall able to handle URLs?
Otherwise, how do you guys allow your hosts to download security updates from windowsupdate.microsoft.com?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
...Alex

Hello Alex,
Yes it can... but in this case, if frewall is enable, you should be able to go to that Site without any problem. Is the Firewall dropping the packets?
Let us know.
Cheers
Mike

Mike,
Thanks for your prompt response.
I am not the one implementing the FW rule, my network guy is; however, he states that it's not possible for him to put an URL on the FW ACL. When he tries to put an URL on the FW ACL, the command won't take it
If you are experienced on this particular router, can you point me to the actual documentation piece on how to handle this or give me the actual command?
I am trying to put 2 URLs on the FW.
es-web-2.sophos.com on TCP 80
windowsupdate.microsoft.com on TCP 80, 443
es-web-2.sophos.com is tricky (at least for me) as it works as a redirector to multiple different URLs.
Let me know if you need more details.
Thanks for your support and expertise.
...Alex
