Hi,

Its because of the command format you use

Try this one

packet-tracer input inside icmp 192.168.1.100 8 0 192.168.254.1

You are using Type 12 Code 12 which doesnt exactly exist. Type 8 Code 0 above in the "packet-tracer" command means ICMP Echo.

Remember to mark a reply as a correct answer if it answered your question.

Hi,

You are still using parameters in the "packet-tracer" that will never succeed.

You CANT use the ASAs interface IP address as the source of the "packet-tracer" command. Or you can but it will always fail.

Here is an example from my own home ASA5505

interface Vlan1

description LAN

nameif LAN

security-level 100

ip address 10.0.10.2 255.255.255.0

Now using a "packet-tracer" with the source IP address of the Vlan1 interface which fails

ASA# packet-tracer input LAN icmp 10.0.10.2 8 0 10.0.0.100

Phase: 1

Type: ROUTE-LOOKUP

Subtype: input

Result: ALLOW

Additional Information:

Hi,

I dont see anything on the ASA configuration that should prevent ICMP from the ASA directly to the hosts or from the hosts directly to the "inside" interface of the ASA.

You do have very strange ACLs though.

I dont see any added benefit of attaching a single ACL to the "inside" interface in both directions. Attaching the DEFAULT ACL to the "inside" interface in direction "in" should be enough.

Same goes for the "outside" interface. The "in" direction ACL should be enough. Though I would recommend removing the "permit ip any any" statement from your "outside" interface ACL and only allowing the services you need.

Its always possible that the local firewall on the PCs will block the ICMP from the ASA. Or from where are you pinging? From ASA to PCs or from PCs to ASA?

Also I am not sure what kind of "packet-tracer" command you have run. Might want to share that also.

- Jouni

Hi Jouni,

After turning off the windows firewall and kaspersky I can ping to he hosts..WOW!!

Thank You Mr Jouni

But When I Packet trace it still says ACL Drop???
