WE use the CISCO ASAV devices as well as Virtual CSR devices.
These deploy with vmware hardware version 8 by default. I believe we have ASAv .9.8.2 currently.
Can these be vmware hardware upgraded to version 10 0r 11 so they are current? Being that these are deployed via OVF/OVA i have to ask because modifying a OVA/OVF deployed virtual machine is generally not recommended. I dont know if this same thing can be said for the virtual hardware version however.
Can anyone answer this?
Thank you

Hi
This is strange because if you see fit example asav good, it's recommended to use hardware level 10 or higher. (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa98/asav/quick-start/asav-quick/asav-vmware.html)
Anyway they're compatible with esxi 5.5 and 6 which are respectively hardware level 10 and 11 if i recall correctly.
You can upgrade them without issue after a proper shutdown.
Thanks
Francesco
