Go to the ASDM download page and choose the file "asdm-demo-714.msi".
Hope this helps. Please rate helpful posts and mark answered questions as such.

That same version is working fine for me on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC - whether in demo mode or logging into an actual ASA.
Have you tried launching against an actual ASA?

I do not have the actual ASA appliance.

So the ASDM may not be working at all on your PC.
Try directing it to login to 12.17.36.51. If ASDM is working at all you should at least get an authentication prompt from my lab ASA.

I have tried this on both 32 bit and 64 bit Widows 7 PC. It's still not working. Moreover I have tried two different versions.
Can U confirm that the latest version works for you?

The IP 12.17.36.51 is a virtual IP? What should be the username and password? The defaut cisco/cisco does not work.

That's a real ASA and real IP. I was just checking if your ASDM works when launching to a real ASA. Prompting for the password woud indicate your ASDM is functional.

It's indeed prompting username/password. How can I fix this demo version issue?

Try watchg the Java console when trying to lauch the demo version (click the little coffee cup icon on the bottom right of the launcher to show Java console).
My successful launch results in something like this in the Java console:

Following is the Java output. It Data folder doesn't even exist on my PC. The ASDM installation happens in a few seconds. I dont see the option to run as an admin.

Is it possible for you to update your Java to a current Java 7 (JRE 1.7) version?
11-01-2013 06:11 AM
I have tried different java version, for me it seems like asdm problem. The asdm installation finishes in less than 15 seconds and open up the gui window.

I realize that this is late, but it may help later people: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the ASDM after updating the Java version.
