I am trying to get my PIX at home to work with my home network. I have right now a modem hooked into WAN port of the
linksys wireless router. I'm trying to put my PIX in between.
I have hooked laptop straight into the modem to get network stats...
the laptop get ipconfig /all:
IP: 71.197.156.2
SM: 255.255.252.0
GW: 71.197.155.1
So from this info.... I made the outside the above IP and subnet mask
outside ip address 71.197.156.2 255.255.252.0
the inside is network is 192.168.22.0
Default gateway is 192.168.22.1
PIX inside IP address is 192.168.22.254 255.255.255.0
I have made the
route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 71.197.155.1 1 (the modem gateway)
I can not ping the outside interface and traffice will not go out...
--------
modem | | Gateway 71.197.155.1
--------
|
|
| 71.197.156.2 255.255.252.0
--------
PIX | |
-------
192.168.22.254 255.255.255.0
|
|
|
--------
Router | |Gateway 192.168.22.1
--------
Am I getting the Subnet mask wrong? What am I missing... do I need to add a NAT line with 71.x.x.x?

Hello,
I have a couple of doubts, what is the version of the Pix? From the pix, can you ping 192.168.22.1 or 71.197.155.1? Can you paste your config?

From the pix, can you ping 192.168.22.1 (yes) or 71.197.155.1 (no)?

Thats the main issue, can you do a show arp? And check if you have an entry for 71?

pix(config)# show arp
inside 192.168.1.1 0012.17b0.ef2f
inside 192.168.1.15 000c.f173.3655
why didn't my inside IP show either??
