What is the major difference between 5540 and 5585 in terms of configs. Can I copy paste configuration from 5540 to 5585?

Hi Keyur,

If you are just concerned about using the same configuration on to the 5585 device, its nokt going to be an issue. The major difference is in the architechture of the two devices. Configuration is more related to software rather than hardware. So if you are running the same code on both the devices, it would not be an issue.

One more thing, please never copy and paste configs, onto another fireall, that never gets the right passwords and cryptokeys on the device. Always use correct back up and restore functionalities. You can us this doc:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_tech_note09186a008072142a.shtml

If you want to know difference between the two devices, you can refer this ASA datasheet:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/vpndevc/ps6032/ps6094/ps6120/product_data_sheet0900aecd802930c5.html

Hope this helps.

Varun
