I know many people have said they run the same software since 7.x, but I'd like to know if they use the same commands and are managed the same way for sure.
From the look of the description on Cisco's website, ASA's are like a combination of Pix and VPN concentrator. So my concern is how the vpn portion is configured...I know VPN concentrators can only be managed via web GUI, how about the ASA's??

Yeah- they are pretty much the same commands. There are certain features that are different but for the most part they are the same. As far as the VPN goes, you can configure it via the CLI....or the ASDM. The ASDM has a pretty cool wizard that will get a vpn set up in about 5 minutes.
Hope this helps.

the os are the same, as well as the commands. however, several features offered by asa not pix, such as webvpn.
