Firepower Upgrade using ASDM -Bad Gateway

When trying to do a firepower upgrade from 5.4.1 to 5.4.8 I get an error when trying to upload the files. I click to select the file and it runs a bit like it loads the file and then gets "Bad Gateway". This seems like a browser or Java issue. I did need to downgrade java to version 7 update 51 to get firepower to load. Can anyone help me?

Are you using the Firepower Virtual Appliance to manage it, or the ASDM and on board management?

Is this a "brand new" install you are trying to upgrade, or an existing installation which has a rule set you don't want to loose?

If your setup works with java version 7 and doesn't work with latest version, it could be due to security restrictions new version adds. Also, there could be an issue with the supported SSL/TLS versions, however, the older versions of Java uses older SSL/TLS versions.
