firewall or just router

We have recently acquired a new company and we are in the process of integrating them into our network. What we would like to happen is to allow 2 distinct subnets full access to our network, we do not plan to limit the applications or protocols passing from one network to the other, my thoughts are that we could just use a plain old router and use ACL's to limit access to the two subnets.

Thoughts?

Hello Murray,

If all you want to filter is IP traffic or just L4 traffic based on the content on the IP or TCP/UDP headers you should be good with a router.
