FMC appliance: Best practice for backup before upgrade ?

Hello everybody,

our customer has a FMC appliance 1600 running rel. 7.4.1.1.

Because the new CVE-2024-20424 I have to upgrade it to rel. 7.4.2.1.

At FMCs on virtual machines we simply make a SnapShot of the VM
to be on the safe side.

How can I save the configuration and all important information on the
FMC appliance for the case that the upgrade failed?

Is there a best practice for this?

Thanks a lot!

Bye
Rene

You can make a backup of the appliance and copy it off the box.

System > Tools > Backup/Restore.

By default it will be stored in /var/sf/backups. You can move or copy the backup file into /var/common (using cli expert mode) and then easily download it via the FMC GUI via the Health Monitor > FMC > > View System and Troubleshoot Detail > Advanced Troubleshooting > File Download.
