FMC on a Mac?

I am not that familiar with VMware, and I try to use Macs where possible.

It looks like the virtual FMC requires VMware.  Does anyone know if VMware Fusion on OSX will host it?

Thanks.  -Pat

Does Fusion run standard ESXi server images?

That is what I was hoping someone who has done this before can tell us.

If anyone is interested, I ended up hosting FMC on a VirtualBox VM on an I7 2012 Mac Mini. w/16GB RAM and 15TB Thunderbolt-attached storage.

It runs very well.  Take lots of snapshots to be safe.

2 cores and 4GB Ram works well for the FMC VM.  Although I created the initial disk too small and had to migrate to a larger disk.  It's currently on a 250GB partition.

It's pretty impressive considering that box is also hosting a Win2008 Server/SQL Database, and SecurityOnion IDS (using 6 GbE ports).

just for reference.. i installed the fmc vm in vmware fusion once but just as a quick and dirty playground. although i didnt test everything it seemed to work just fine

Just keep in mind that this is not a supported scenario. I dont think you will face any issues if you need a cisco support case but keep that in mind if that is an installation for your prod environment and not just lab infra.

I thought I would post an update to close out this thread.

I've been running FMC on VirtualBox on a mac Mini (4-core, 16GB) and have had no problems.  The software has run fine and I haven't had any problems with support.
