FWSM : Recommend running fsck disk

Dear,

In my FWSM have the version 4.1(5) and yestarday I saw in the FWSM when I put "show disk0:"

FWSM# show disk

File Allocation Table might be corrupted. Recommend running "fsck disk:"

and then I ran "fsck disk", and I don´t know What the mean this?.

It is correct?, when the "show disk:" run , the messages show 5 ".private/PCBA-NAT <stat error File not found>"

Hi Rob,

Are you able to save the configuration by doing a "wr mem all" does it throw you any error??

Hi Rob,

You might have to format the flash, but before doing anything like it please take a back up of the complete configuration, so that you can put it back after formatting the flash.

I need to run the command "'format disk" in the FWSM, but always before I have a backup the configuration.

My next question is :

What is the next step, if persit the same issue?.

Hi Rob,

Well if that still doesn't work the definitely it points towards a hardware issue, you might need to open a TAC case for it, for further investigation.

fwsm(config)# format disk

fwsm# wr ? -- what command later?.

fwsm# reload ? --- what command later?.

format disk:

Format operation will destroy all data in "disk:". Continue? [confirm]

You confirm and let it format. Once done you simply issue "wr mem" or "wr mem all" - if it is multiple context mode.

You will be all set. If you still see the .private folders pls. delete them.

I have exactly the same problem after I removed a transparent context in a FWSM installed in a 6500, when a context is removed in active/standby is it necessary to reload the modules? I checked "show resource acl-partition" and the context is not in the config and more resources are available in the partition where the context used to allocate, please assist. Thank you.
