How does PIX check Websense status?

I know the PIX checks the Websense every five seconds (show url-server stats), but using what mechanism? A test query? A simple ping test?

Pix sends:

TCP dst port 15868 64k payload (no data)

SERVER sends:

TCP dst (original source port of the pix) 92k packet (34 bytes of data)
