I have a ASA 5540 running with 9.1.4 .. I need to downgrade it to 8.2.5(51) to use this with another pair running with 8.2.5. I have both 9.1.4 & 8.2.5 IOS on flash. I tried below two options and both ends with same error "Loading disk0:/asa825-51-k8.bin...and then hangs/no response on consoleā€

  1. Conf t

    Boot system disk0:/asa825-k8.bin

    reload

  2. Copy start disk0:/abc.cfg

    downgrade disk0:/ asa825-k8.bin disk0:/abc.cfg

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I think both the ways are correct. Did you try to use a different ASA 8.2.5.x IOS to boot up the ASA device ?

I would suggest copy the IOS image again and see if you are able to boot the device with the IOS using the 1st way.

Thanks and Regards,

Appreciate your support.. I loaded image again and it was working..

This time ,

1) I verified the image before I use against a valid hash code in another ASA running with similar image 2) deleted 9.1.4 image to free some space on the 64MB flash memory
