is it possible to remove the pdm from a pix firewall with os 6.3(x)?

Hi,
In 7.0, it is a simple matter of deleting the file from the flash file system, but 6.x requires the following:
pix# erase flash
pix# copy tftp://x.x.x.x/pix635.bin
You have to erase flash and then just copy in the OS image.
