Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me with this. In the Cisco press book its shows the performance as 1000 Mbps with the XL card, however on the Cisco site it shows at 800 Mbps, which one is correct?
Also is the the performance for the whole device or per port?
Please advise, thanks in advance.

There are multiple references on the Cisco website that also say it supports a "fully saturated gig link".
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/ps5050/index.html
"The 1000-Mbps performance for IDS-4250-XL is based on the following conditions: 5000 new TCP connections per second, 5000 HTTP transactions per second, average packet size of 595 bytes, system running Cisco IPS 5.0 software."
The number applies to the entire sensor not individual ports. My understanding is that the performance numbers are only useful as a general indication of capabilities(i.e. they make certain assumptions about protocol usage and packet size). If you've really got 1Gig of traffic to monitor...you'd better test.
