IDS reply to attacker

Hi,

I would like to know if intruder(attacker)  attack our network and intercepted by our IDS we will get alarm generated but , what reply will attacker see?

1- will attacker receive any reply back from IDS , alarm or he see his request has been dropped or ignored?

Hi,

If you are using IDS (Intrusion Detection System) attacker will probably not see anything, as it's only monitoring your network and not blocking anything.

IPS in other hand can be detected, but that's not an easy task.

I wouldn't know how, but I have read about it. :)
