IEEE 802.3ad equivalent

Hi Team,

We have a requirement wherein FTD is to be implemented and the customer wants that the physical interface should be capable of link aggregation as per IEEE 802.3ad or equivalent standard, allowing the grouping of interfaces into a larger bandwidth 'trunk'. It should also allow for high availability (HA) by automatically redirecting traffic from a failed link in a trunk to the remaining links in that trunk.

Not able to find whether we can do this on FTD platform, is there any reference article for the same?

Thanks & Regards,

Yogesh Madhekar

You cannot do this currently on the low-mid range appliances (5506-X through 5555-X) running FTD image as of FTD 6.1. This will most likely be added in a future release of FTD.

Reference: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/610/fdm/fptd-fdm-config-guide-610/fptd-fdm-interfaces.html#concept_6940083A55184D009B6406EF167C9DD4 .

You can use the FX-OS chassis manager (high end 4100 and 9300 platforms) to create Etherchannel interfaces which are in turn available to the FTD image. References:
