we have an ASA5520 need upgrade new anyconnect client, but the new version is too big, so it's no enough space. I want to delete the ASDM image to free the more space. My question is when I delete the ASDM image,if I could manage the ASA from web browser?

Hi,

I think the ASA should have enough Flash to support the actual OS, ASDM and VPN Image file.

Look into removing some software images you dont use anymore. Perhaps uploading them to some server with TFTP incase you need them later.

I havent run into space problem on the Flash memory after PIX firewalls which had 16MB

I don't think you can use any GUI based management of the ASA after you remove the actual image file that provides that GUI.

Hi Jouni,

Thank you for your help, it's very good experience.

You should be able to fit multiple versions of system software (~26 MB as of latest version 9.1(1) for non-SMP ASA such as 5520), ASDM (~17 MB) and Anyconnect images (~30 MB for Windows, ~11 MB for OSX) all on an ASA 5520 disk0: (internal compact flash card). A 5520 comes with a 256 MB CF card by default.

As Jouni said, look for old images that may be using up space - those can be safely deleted. If you delete the ASDM image you will be limited to CLI management only. If your ASA has ever crashed there may also be "fsck***" (file system check) files present. Those may also be deleted.

Hi Marvin

Unfortunitely, our 5520 is old, it only have 64MB Flash card by default. We need upgrade the CF card to resove the problem. Thanks!

I believe the 5520 should have an external CF card slot. You can put a 3rd party CF card in there for a nominal cost and instal your new AnyConnect images there. That'll show up as disk1: (instead of the internal disk0:).
