IP SLA Question

We are trying to figure out exactly what route to take with the following scenario.

We would like to implement IP SLA to monitor latency. Setting this up is not an issue. When the latency goes above a certain threshold the router fires off an SNMP trap to our management system and we get alerted based on that. My issue is that I would like to run a trace route command to the IP that is being moitored by the specific IP SLA command. I am thinking that I would need to use Cisco EEM with even tracking for this and am just looking for a bit of verification. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You are on the right track here, EEM would be the way to go here.

You can find some sample scripts here:

You can also use something like ping-plotter to do scheduled traceroutes (alongwith Jitter/delay calculation)
